Sheikh Hussein Ali Bulafu

Sheikh Hussein Ali Bulafu is a prominent Ugandan Muslim scholar, university lecturer, writer, researcher, and public speaker. He was born in Mbale, Eastern Uganda, into a respected family of scholarship and professionalism—his father, Sheikh Ali Juma Shiwuyo, is a renowned Muslim scholar and leader, while his mother, Hajjat Madina Kakai, is a skilled professional accountant. He is also a devoted brother, husband and father, balancing his academic and public roles with family life. He hails from the Bagisu tribe.. Sheikh Bulafu has become a respected voice in Islamic scholarship and community development.

He is a PhD Candidate of Islamic Law(Shariah) at the Islamic University in Uganda and holds both Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in Islamic Law along with an Associate Degree in Education from the Islamic University in Uganda(I.U.I.U) Main Campus. At IUIU, he currently serves as a lecturer, actively shaping the next generation of Islamic scholars. Beyond academia, he also serves as a National Sermon Preacher at the Uganda Gadhafi National Mosque, one of the most prominent Islamic centers in the East Africa.

Sheikh Bulafu’s work extends into Islamic law consultancy and various forms of counseling, including pre-marital, marriage, parenting, and child-focused services. His approach combines Islamic principles with cognitive behavioral techniques to guide individuals and families towards holistic well-being.

With a strong commitment to building a well-guided society, Sheikh Bulafu regularly speaks at national platforms and Islamic institutions, addressing topics such as Islamic development, human rights, and the objectives of Shariah. He has also serves as a theology teacher at Madinah Islamic Secondary School Nsanji.

Through his public lectures and counseling programs, Sheikh Bulafu continues to provide impactful Islamic guidance to Muslims and the broader society, aiming to uplift communities in both spiritual and social dimensions.
